Unexpected Discoveries Hidden in Everyday Foods

Someone Received Some Extra Cardboard With Their Pizza

As we think of a frozen pizza factory, we picture a line of workers adding different toppings to pies as they move along conveyor belts. In fact, we often associate this image with all companies, even though it may not be entirely accurate. How did someone manage to get a piece of cardboard in between their pizza crust and toppings? It’s not the worst thing in food, but it’s strange.

www.reddit.com

The pizza plant must have been very busy today, or maybe a machine broke down and put the cardboard on top of the pizza instead of the bottom.

Just when we thought you couldn’t mess up ice cream any more

The person who made this ice cream bar took the first part of the word very literally. The fact that this is ice cream, rather than a treat, may be the most disappointing aspect of the entire experience. Someone probably went in to take a bite and ended up with a mouthful of bitter ice. However, we have no idea how this could happen or what we’d do if it did.

www.reddit.com

Let’s say it’s scorching outside, and you bought some ice cream. Do you eat it all or throw it away? It doesn’t look THAT bad.

A Free Extra Topping

Okay, this one is rather gross. When someone kneaded their pizza, they likely thought the crust was a bit too thick. It turned out that the cook had left his glove in the sandwich. Our minds immediately picture a very busy pizza shop where someone is throwing three or four pizzas into the air at the same time. We’re not sure how that could happen.

www.reddit.com

That’s not good for pizza, and if you own a pizza shop, it’s even worse.

Leafy Green Or Camouflaged Bug?

You’ve probably all seen pictures or shows of praying mantids. We are not surprised to see one of these predators in this picture, because they fit in so well with their surroundings. We would be scared if we were the person trying to enjoy their salad, but luckily we’re not one of them. Even so, we’re likely to look at every salad we eat from now on until the end of time.

www.reddit.com

The little guy in this picture probably got thrown in with the other leafy greens. He was so well disguised that no one saw him until he was on the dish.

An Egg Inside An Egg

If you’ve ever seen those Russian stacked dolls, this picture makes us think of them. We can’t imagine how surprised this person was when they cracked this egg open and found another egg underneath it. It’s already tough to break an egg with just one shell; it’s even harder to do without a second shell. Our opinion is that this picture is a little sketchy when compared to the others on this list.

www.reddit.com

First off, we’re not sure if eggs can have two shells. Additionally, it appears that tape might be holding the top part of the egg together.

Strands Of Curvy Spaghetti

This food find is pretty interesting, but some of the others are worse. There were a few strands of spaghetti that stood out when someone opened their box. In a way, they loop back in toward the bottom of the box. They didn’t break, which is pretty amazing. We think the machines just missed them on the conveyor belt.

www.reddit.com

Watching a spaghetti-making movie will show you that it must be cut, but these two strands were skipped.

A Two For One Deal

Even though we love oysters, they don’t look like the tastiest food ever. To put it another way, imagine opening an oyster and discovering a tiny crab inside. It might look like a charming picture, but wait until you see the crab. While we’re still not sure if we could handle the other six or so, we did find this.

www.reddit.com

Still, an oyster with a small crab might not be such a terrible idea after all. If you put some tobasco sauce on it, it would taste like delicious softshell crab.

The Rotisserie Came With The Rod

Unlike many other items on this list, we can easily visualize how this could occur. It looks like the rod that held the chicken was pretty short, so it’s simple to see a busy worker taking the whole rod, chicken and all, and putting it in a bag to sell. I can’t imagine how someone could pick up that bag and not notice its excessive weight.

m.facebook.com

Still, this isn’t the worst thing that could happen. We just hope they didn’t have to pay extra for the rod when they rang up the items.

Sea Salt With A Dash Of Sea Shell

This is pretty cool, or at least as cool as discovering something in your food. Someone discovered a tiny shell in their sea salt (say that five times, really quickly). They probably didn’t need more proof that their salt wasn’t seawater. Putting beach trash in your bin is about as legal as it gets.

www.reddit.com

Having said that, it’s a bit of a double-edged sword because it demonstrates how meticulous and clean the company was in packing the salt after they received it.

A Square Of Uncut Cheetos

We have looked at this picture for a few minutes and are still not sure if it’s the best or worst thing we’ve ever seen. Someone has a block of whole Cheetos, and who wouldn’t want it? On the other hand, there’s something a little disturbing about it. It’s akin to pulling back the curtain and immediately experiencing a sense of guilt upon revealing its contents.

www.reddit.com

We’re merely asserting that we might not have suffered any harm if we hadn’t discovered that Cheetos originate from a larger block. We know it’s prepared food, but we’d rather not think about that.

The Kids’ Pasta Got Mixed In With The Adults

Italian food has always been very classy, so it’s amusing to see this piece of bicycle pasta mixed in with a dish for adults. This is not what you’d expect to find in your dish. No one knows if they were at a diner or if the penne factory failed. If they’re at a restaurant, it’s great that bicycle pasta is on the menu.

www.reddit.com

The person who found this probably laughed because some of these pasta ingredients are much worse.

Someone Found A Scorpion In Their Ice Cream

Okay, this one makes my stomach turn. When the package was opened, it looked like the scorpion fell into a vat of ice cream and turned into a cone. When you open your ice cream, this is probably the last thing you want to see. That bug was probably swimming around in a tub of ice cream that had been sent to a lot of different people.

www.reddit.com

You can’t really see or tell that it’s there, either. They were lucky that they saw it before they took a big bite and got a scorpion in their mouth.

A Piece Of Machinery Inside A Popsicle

Some of the pictures on this list are of different kinds of ice cream and popsicles, which is making us hate one of our favorite sweets. Someone discovered an entire piece of machinery hidden within their bicycle. Okay, it may not be quite as large as that, but it is a substantial lugnut or other type of nut. They saw it before they took a bite, which is good.

www.reddit.com

Also, how did it get in there? We could only think of one solution: the factory’s machines are actually falling apart.

Someone Discovered An Entirely New Flavor

This one is pretty cool. Someone purchased this bag of airheads. There are all the usual colors, plus white, which is meant to be a secret color. You might see something a little off if you look more closely, though. The package contained no mention of the yellow piece they removed. In fact, it piques our curiosity about its origin and its flavor.

www.reddit.com

Most people think that banana is the best taste for yellow, but is that even possible? The process they use in the factory probably doesn’t use bananas.

There is one more thing in this bag of frozen vegetables

Could we enhance the flavor of a bag of frozen veggies by adding a hint of wood? Just add a bit of wood. When someone opened their bag of frozen veggies, a whole piece of wood fell out. It looks like it came from a board, which could explain how it got in. However, given the potential treatment of the wood, we would likely discard it.

www.reddit.com

It says on the box that it’s a steam bag, so it might already be cooked. We’d probably throw it away and make something else instead.

It’s not the worst thing that could be in an oyster

It’s kind of cool to find a pearl in an oyster, but it does happen sometimes. One out of every 10,000 oysters contains a pearl. Considering how many are eaten every day, your chances of finding one aren’t that bad if you like oysters. This person, however, kind of got lucky because they didn’t swallow the pearl before they realized it.

www.reddit.com

Alternatively, the situation could worsen if you bite down and damage or chip a tooth. It is also quite fascinating to consider that the pearl likely covered the entire cost of the meal.

A Pringle Not Like The Rest

Firstly, we lack knowledge about Pringles’ manufacturing process and likely have no desire to learn. What makes us really interested is that we’ve never seen a Pringle with any kind of shape or pattern on it. We had no idea that was possible. It appears that something may have pushed it down during the manufacturing process, as there are marks that look like tracks.

www.reddit.com

The color is also a little different from the other Pringle. In retrospect, the fact that every Pringle is the same shape and color is odd.

A USB Stick In A Stick Of Sausage

This really is kind of crazy. This USB drive was discovered inside a sausage, which is quite unusual, don’t you think? However, the sausage maker intentionally included the USB drive because they were seeking a date. There’s no doubt that it’s the smartest way to ask someone out, but it’s also a little strange. It appears that this was a regular customer who came in frequently.

pikabu.ru

Otherwise, you’d just let any unknown person take the USB out into the world. He also thought that someone would plug it into their computer to see if it still worked, which was smart.

Human Finger Or Oddly Shaped Carrot?

Don’t worry—we felt the same way when we saw this picture for the first time. Even though it looks a lot like a human finger, it’s actually just a baby carrot that looks a lot like a certain part of the human body. It looks like we would have screamed and jumped around if we had just opened a bag of frozen veggies and poured them into a pan.

www.reddit.com

No matter what, it’s going in the trash. Even though you shouldn’t think about how vegetables and fruits look, it might be enjoyable to do so here.

A Tiny Starfish Locked Away In A Mussel

When it comes to fish, you never know what you’ll get. As they ate some mussels, someone opened one and saw a tiny starfish inside. The starfish doesn’t look that strange; in fact, it looks cute. That being said, we might refrain from eating mussels for a while after witnessing this. It’s a little scary to find something inside a shell that isn’t meant to be there.

Reddit

The starfish in this picture looks like it’s still living, but we can’t be sure. This makes us wonder what they did with it in the end.

Steak And Snail, The Perfect Duo

Many people believe that bugs are the worst part of their food. In some places, though, bugs, even snails, are considered tasty foods. It’s how you see it that matters. For some reason, though, the person who ordered this steak probably wasn’t too pleased to see a snail crawling around right under it.

www.reddit.com

The waiter probably gave them a refund after they realized that their plate came with an extra side dish, but it looks like they had already eaten a few bites of the steak.

Whole grains actually make cereal

All the different ads out there these days make it difficult to tell which ones are telling the truth. However, the cereal’s “made with whole grains” claim on the box gives the buyer peace of mind. When they put their cereal into a bowl, they found whole grain in it. That being said, we’re not sure if you could eat it.

www.reddit.com

How it got into the box after all the processing stages is also a mystery. But that’s probably another question we shouldn’t know the answer to.

Something Is Missing In This Photo

It’s hard to say whether this or finding something in your food is worse. Someone appears to have consumed this bar prior to its packaging. It’s possible that something strange happened during processing, but that looks like a bite mark if we’ve ever seen one. On the other hand, it doesn’t look quite right for a bite mark—it’s too crescent-shaped.

www.reddit.com

If we were to open something similar and find a whole piece missing, we would immediately discard it. Taking precautions is preferable to making mistakes.

Someone Found This In Their Ice Cream

This list contains numerous items that could potentially be harmful to your ice cream. The process of packing and sealing a whole toad inside an ice cream tub is beyond my comprehension. This raises numerous issues, not to mention the cleanliness of the factory. Despite numerous individuals working on the floor, no one observes the toad’s movement.

www.reddit.com

Without that, this toad was probably drowned in the vat’s ice cream. Most likely, they packaged and distributed a significant portion of it for sale.

Hey There Honey Bee

It’s funny, but if you ever found a bug in food, you might want it to be honey. We are implying that they actually produce honey, correct? If a bee touches your honey, there isn’t much you can do about it. Strangely, it also verifies that the honey is authentic and free of artificial flavoring, a common practice among many companies.

www.reddit.com

If we come across something similar, it’s likely one of the few items on this list that we wouldn’t completely discard. However, we would remove the beetle and preserve the remainder.

Someone Took The Word “Potato Chip” Too Literal

This one is a little strange. This person likely believed they had gotten a decent deal on the potato chips due to the weight of the bag, but upon opening it, they discovered a whole potato inside. We’re surprised the company didn’t notice this when weighing the bags, since they work hard to fill them with air.

www.reddit.com

You can tell that this person didn’t just grab a potato from the bar and take a picture because the potato was seasoned the same way as the chips.

What A Steal!

If you had the choice between a jar of pickles and a jar of pickles with a nut, which would you buy? In one of the pickles, the nut isn’t even present. Since it’s just sitting in the jar, it’s pretty much free. These days, hardware costs a lot more. Even though I’m joking, this does make me wonder what’s going on back at the pickle plant.

Reddit

It seems like things are getting so bad when nuts and maybe even other machines fall off and land on conveyor belts. We hope that everything works out over there.

Is This Fishing Hook Decoration Or Garnish?

We don’t have a lot of information here. It’s unclear if someone was eating fish and found a hook in their dish, or if this was already on the side of the plate. The first one would make sense, but it would also be a little risky. However, we fail to understand how a server or cook could have overlooked the fact that this item was resting on the side of a plate during its delivery.

www.facebook.com

If that’s the case, how did the hook get into the kitchen? Did their fish guy drop it by mistake while delivering the day’s catch? We’re not sure, but that’s a lovely knot.

Someone Found Metal In Their Meal

There’s a little trickery in this picture. The person who took it just put the banana there to show size, since everyone knows that bananas are the best way to show bulk. However, finding it in their salad is scarier than in their banana. To begin with, this small metal piece would be very hard to see on a plate full of leafy greens.

www.reddit.com

You shouldn’t drink this, and it’s even worse if you chew on it. Just thinking about doing that hurts our teeth.

Want Mixed Vegetables? Well, Here Have Some Corn

For this to happen, there must have been a big problem at the workplace. Someone thought they were opening a bag of mixed veggies, but when they did, they got a bag full of corn instead. There are two small pieces of carrot, but other than that, it’s mostly corn. We don’t know what they’re making, but we think it needs a little more range than this.

www.reddit.com

Still, it’s funny, and it would probably make us laugh more than anything else. Instead, they could try something new and make popcorn.

Some Madman Took A Bite Out Of This Butter

Several of the pictures on this list have marks that look like someone bit into something, but it’s not always clear if those are real bite marks. There’s no doubt about this. A person just went in and cut off a piece of this corner. You can see the teeth marks. Do the first thing: throw it all away and get a new one.

www.reddit.com

The second question is: What type of insane individual would bite into a butter stick in that manner? Don’t do it. It’s akin to biting into an uncooked onion or potato.

This Is How You Know The Chicken Is Fresh

We wouldn’t turn down chicken for almost anything else, but this is one of them. When someone’s chicken came out, the feathers were still on it. That’s pretty bad, especially since the cook should have seen this coming. What’s going on here that the cook or chef doesn’t see? In theory, it’s fine to just take off the feathers and eat, but we think this person got hungry.

Reddit

As long as they could stomach it, I hope the rest of the meal was tasty and that their plates didn’t have any more surprises in them.

A Pepper With Its Sticker Still Attached

It looks like this was a real mistake. It looks like this could be Chinese food. While they were eating, they noticed that their pepper still had a produce sticker attached to it. Well, at least they know it’s fresh, and now they also know where it came from. However, they probably hated biting into it and tasting paper.

www.reddit.com

There’s no big deal—just move the pepper to the side and continue your meal as you would without the sticker.

This Person Found A Baby Orange

At some point in your life, you may have seen something like the baby orange in this picture. When you open a fruit or vegetable, you may find a smaller version growing on the inside. We have never seen an orange, skin and all, inside of another orange, though. It’s pretty cool. The smaller piece, on the other hand, seems really cute, even though it will probably be much harder to peel.

www.reddit.com

The person was likely a little startled at first and didn’t know what it was. But we’re sure they liked the snack more once they realized it was just a tiny orange.

They Found That Spoon They Were Looking For

As this looks like home-baked bread or cake, we think they lost the spoon in the batter and just put it in the oven to cook and bake. When it was done, they cut into it, but then they realized where they had lost the spoon. They probably laughed a little and ate some really tasty cake after taking the spoon out.

Reddit

It looks like a pretty tasty sponge cake without the spoon. After slicing it open, they could have discovered much more than just a spoon.

A Wacky Carrot

This is just a guess, but we don’t think this carrot should be made like a fish. Alternatively, we suggest cutting the carrots in this dish in a conventional manner. Someone is eating fried rice, and a carrot that resembles a fish has somehow found its way into the dish. It was likely meant to be in a kid’s meal or something, though.

www.reddit.com

Nonetheless, the sight of a carrot in a fish-shaped dish is somewhat amusing. You can also pair it with fried rice, serving it as a large piece of carrot.

Someone Found A Salt Crystal In Their Dish

This one is pretty cool. During a meal, someone found this huge salt rock in their dish. It kind of looks like a really big snowflake, or another crystal made of harder materials. While it’s impressive that they found it, we’re sure they didn’t want to eat it because it’s primarily made of salt.

www.instagram.com

One more thing: it might break a tooth because these are usually a lot harder than you’d think, and this one is really big. A few small pieces of teeth could be lost.

Maple Syrup Crystals

Don’t worry, though, if you find these in your maple syrup. The high amount of sugar in maple syrup causes these crystals to form. They look like rocks you would dig up. You can also eat them, and they should taste pretty good. But that’s not as fun. Put them back in the bottle with the maple syrup after melting.

www.reddit.com

You can also find some easy-to-follow videos online that show you how to make your own maple syrup crystals or candy, which sounds like a really tasty idea.

Someone Found This Fish Inside Their Squid

Despite your opinion of squid, you probably wouldn’t want to open this. If someone bought this squid at the store, they wouldn’t know that it had another animal inside until they cut it open at home. This would definitely make us lose our appetite. The squid successfully caught the fish and continued to consume it.

www.reddit.com

We understand that this is a normal process for all animals, but it’s a whole different thing to open up a squid and find a half-digested fish still inside.

Nothing Like A Handle To Throw Off The Appetite

This one might win the “how in the world does this even happen” prize. What kind of person could miss a big metal handle right in the middle of the dish? We can kind of see how someone could miss small coins or bugs. It really does fill up half the bowl. We believe the maker intended this to happen that way or after it left.

www.reddit.com

The customer wasn’t pleased when they opened their order and saw this, no matter what the reason was. You can send this back to the kitchen without being picky.
